Santa Baby

This card is for the challenge over at One Stop Crafts this week. The DT members are in the Christmas spirit and created Christmas Sparkle projects to inspire you with sweet images from Sassy Studio Designs. I hope you find time amid the holiday frenzy to come play with us.

Going Blue at the OSSC

I'm a bit late with this week's post for the One Stop Craft Challenge. I quickly planned a 1500 mile road trip to visit family. I had a great time exploring the US from Minnesota to Florida and arrived safely. It's taken me a few days to rest up and now I'm ready to start to enjoy my time here.

Girlie Goldilocks

I love little girls! I’m auntie to some amazing cherubs and proud godmother as well. Mr. Gears’ side of the family has an abundance of estrogen as well so we always needs little girl birthday cards. This week at One Stop Craft Challenge Shelley had the DT create Girlie cards. Our sponsor, Sassy Studio Designs, has some GREAT girlie images. Join us this week and you could win some of your own!

I found inspiration in the birthday theme, the curly haired girl, the dots on the balloons (I used buttons) and the red and white banner (I created bars of DP).

365 Cards Day 98 ~ Lucky 13 I have 13 buttons on my card.
My Creation
TIP – A quick tip to add dimension to your card without much fuss. Instead of trying to fussy cut and color multiple pieces of an image, opt to pop up some of the elements on your card. Here I used pop up dots to raise the entire image panel and one of the patterned paper strips. When I made my button collage I used pop dots on a few of them also. You get some wow factor with just a bit of foam.

I had fun playing with Copics and tried something different for Goldilocks hair. I like the contrast, but can’t decide if I gave her a bad ‘frost’ job (do people still do that or is it just called highlights now) or if she has a massive root touch-up required. LOL.

Princess Graduate

I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since my last post! Yowza, life has been a bit chaotic. I have been spending time crafting, just not able to get any finished cards ready to post. Thankfully another AWESOME challenge at One Stop Crafts Challenge kicked me into gear. This week Shelly challenged us to use buttons and bows on our cards. The challenge runs until midnight on Friday so you have lots of time to join in.

Copic Creations Challenge #50 ~ Yellows I’m not a big fan of yellow (clashes with my skin tone) so I focused on trying out my hand at blonde/yellow hair. Most of my images end up brunette or auburn as I have yet to really find the perfect ‘blonde’ in my Copics.

Real Life Inspiration
One of my best friend's youngest daughter graduated from Kindergarten last week. She's such a special little girl in my life, I knew I had to create a princess card for her.

Sassy in Blue

Sassy Spring Madness

I played with a few variations of the same image from Sassy Studios (our sponsor this week over at One Stop Craft Challenge - come and join in the Diamond Fun). This time I went for lots of bright cheery colors and utilized the awesome sketch over at Midnight Madness.

Diamonds at the OSCC

Wahoo! It's Saturday which means it's a new challenge over at One Stop Crafts Challenge. This week we are challenging you to be inspired by "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend'. Sassy Studios is our fabulous sponser. Please stop over to see the awesome creations by the DT and join in the fun. I pulled inspiration from some other awesome challenges and did and redid my card. I had visions of an elegant black and white creation with lots of sparkle. What happened was I kept smudging my black ink into my skin tones. I did all the image, except the black, and still messed it up when I pieced things together. After redoing the image 3 times, I just decided to roll with it. It's pretty tough to colorless blend black 'shadows' from a sassy girls face and arms or cover it up. I did a last ditch attempt with a glitter gel pen trying to acheive 'body glitter'. The main image, makes my girl look 'dirty/dusty' but the image detail shows what I was trying to  achieve.

Wild Birthday at the OSCC

Time for another One Stop Craft Challenge ~ WAHOO! Lisa’s celebrating her birthday this week and is challenging us to make birthday cards WITH cake on them. The DT had fun with images from the challenge sponsor, Sassy Studios Designs. I hope you can join in the fun!

WAHOOOO! I did the current challenge on time ~ are you proud of me MMSC DT? :o) I did a mash-up of the two sketches.











My Creation

Image Detail
Lots of sparkle and shine IRL. I used Stickles for glitterly sparkle and opted for Sepia Accents instead of Glossy Glaze for shine. The brownish-red color adds richness to my girls tresses and the cupcake frosting.
 This close up shows the Stickles (applied first) in her hair. I added the Sepia Accents right over the top, no need to wait for the Stickles to dry first. Her arm and body are popped up a bit for dimension.
Inside
Tip: When working with digis, print 2 images the same size. I use one for 'practice' coloring and will often opt to cut the second image into sections and add layers to the main image or use them for continued decoration inside the card.
