Photo Synthesis Challenge #3 ~ Take 1

Woot, woot! It’s time for another challenge at the Photo Synthesis Challenge Blog. We’ve got 2 photos for you to draw inspiration from.
Choose one or pick up elements from both to inspire your card. The challenge runs for 2 weeks so you have until Monday, September 13th to play along. The added challenge with your creation is to reduce/reuse/recycle. Use up some of your old stash, recycle some junk mail, get creative. Help save the planet while creating something beautiful.

I was recouping from a flu bug recently and Mr. Gears wouldn’t let me do much of anything. Thankfully, crafting didn’t cause him to fret, so I was able to make THREE cards for this challenge. All 3 images were from my stash of ‘just waiting to be put onto a card’ and I tried to use mostly scraps for the other pieces and elements.

Today I’ll share the details of my Leaf Trio card. Stop by later this week to see the details and more photos on the others.

Photo Inspiration ~ Photo Synthesis Challenge #3
I used the second photo as my primary inspiration for the card. I picked up on the leaves and colors. The stucco beige, greens and dark metallic (interpreted as brown) from the candle holders. I even used a glittered cardstock base which was inspired by the stucco ‘feel’ of the wall.

Inspiration
365 Cards Day 155 ~ Card Recipe: 4.25 x 5.5 card, 3x3 patterned paper, stitching, 3 rhinestones, sentiment, 1 stamped image
A bit more Cat interpretation on the recipe. I did faux stitching and I tried to have my sentiment on the outside of the card, but the epoxy sticker wouldn’t stay stuck to the glittered CS, so I opted to move it to the inside. I used a 3x3 square, it's just rotated so you only see half.
Cute Card Thursday #127 ~ Dieing for a Punch (no punches or die cut machines just trimmers and scissors)

How Sentimental at OSCC

It's new challenge time over at One Stop Crafts. This week Maggie challenges us with the theme 'How Sentimental'; use a sentiment as the main focus on your card. This is certainly a challenge for me as I tend to find comfort in coloring images and often my sentiment is an afterthought. I admit I really enjoyed the challenge and am pleased with my final card. I found the sentiment over at Create with TLC. Paulette is a digi whiz and offers up multiple freebies every day. If you're looking to play with digis or expland your inventory, you need to pop over and say hello. Don't forget to give her some comment love for all her hard work. I was blessed with some other great inspiration when I created my card.

This week at Midnight Madness I took bits from both versions of the sketch to create my card.

Betty Bumblethorpe is Here

Just Inklined is a relatively new dig stamp line and they have a whole line of these expressive seniors. I had so much fun shopping and can’t wait to share more of them with you. I thought Betty Bumblethorpe fit perfectly with the quote.

Loyal Friend

The idea for this card started last week when the One Stop Craft Challenge was to create an Oriental Themed creation. As a Design Team member I like to participate on my off weeks to support the other members. This challenge tripped my up until I remembered this awesome image from Mo Manning and the Far East stack from Die Cuts With a View. I don’t remember everything I did last week, but it kept me far from my craft room. I’d started coloring the image and wanted to finish off my card so she wouldn’t get lost in my ‘to make into a card someday’ bucket of colored images. :o)

Color Inspiration ~ Color Me Copic #2 ~ Grass
I always like to ‘ground’ my images using different techniques and created a sidewalk and grassy background as a scene for the sweet girl and kitty.

Spending an afternoon outside in the green grass sharing a drink with a friend is one of my favorite summer activities. Minnesota is blessed with all 4 seasons so this guilty pleasure is cherished when the season allows.

One Stop Crafts ~ Not a Card Challenge

This week at One Stop Crafts, Sharon challenged us to create anything but a card. I wonder if she knew how much I was challenged by this one! LOL. Thankfully, my awesome SU friend came to the rescue. We made these adorable matchboxes and they were really quick and easy! Thanks to the use of the SU Matchbox die for the Big Shot. I think I cringe on these projects because I think back to the days of tracing a template, trying to figure out what lines to cut or score and then somehow gluing it together and resembling what it was intended to be. Thankfully, all the great die cut systems on the market have made things much easier for crafters like me.

Sketch Inspiration ~ 365 Cards Day 135 ~ White Space
I opted for a square base, otherwise I kept seeing a giant eyeball in the sketch. :o)

Pile it On Challenge #32 ~ Get Into Shape I lost count, but I know my flower alone has more than 5 cut out layers. :o)
365 Cards Day 163 ~ August InspiredHaving just cleaned out my flower beds, August makes me think of flowers – the late bloomers and the dead brown stems of my early bloomers. Hence, I used brown as the color theme and a big flower!

Photo Synthesis Challenge #2

Wahoo! It's time for another challenge over at the Photo Synthesis blog. Tiffany Doodles is sponsoring the challenge and gave us some AWESOME images to work with. Please join us for the chance to win digis from Tiffany and be named in our Top 3 creations.

I didn't add quite as much 'flourish' to my card, and opted to cut out some of the image to further play up the clear card base.

Sorry for the break in posting, the last push of summer has kept me hopping. This is a quick and cheery card I made from a card kit from my awesome SU demonstrator. She always has great ideas and a night playing with the girls is so welcome in my crazy life.

CAS Sympathy

I was so inspired by my CAS butterfly card, I made another. Same basic layout, this time without any pops of color. These butterflies are SO wonderful. I know I’ll use them often.

CAS Citrus Butterfly

This card was so simple, I can't believe I made it! I fell in love with these butteflies when they were shared for FREE over at TLC Creations. Butterflies carry special significance as before she journeyed to heaven my mom told me whenever I saw one, it would be her saying hello. I did add 3 little punched butterflies, so hopefully that won't disqualify my card as a single layer card. :o)

Sketch Inspiration ~ Clean & Simple #102

Color Inspiration ~ Colour Create #50 With the option of butterflies

Inspiration
I added a DIY border for an added element.

Image Detail
Since the images were digis, I didn't have the chance to change their color. Instead I used Spica pens to give each one a pop of color with a corder and matching punched butterfly.

Inside
I kept the color theme to the inside of the card and used up several scraps from my desk.

One Stop Craft DT Card ~ Summer Fun

There’s a new challenge over at One Stop Crafts this week from the awesome Lindsey. She’s challenging us to think ‘Summer Fun’. With the heat waves we’ve had in my corner of the world, it’s not hard to think summer. I’m not much of a heat person, so I had to try and cool down with a waterey summer card. I love this cute mermaid from Elizabeth Dulemba. She has LOTS of FREEBIE images. She creates them as coloring pages for kids, but they work PERFECTLY for card making and other paper crafts.

I hope you can play along. Link up your card at the OSC Challenge Blog and you could win an awesome prize from Dew Dropz. Thanks for rocking our Pattern Challenge last week. We had 232 participants ~ and they all rocked it!

Sketch Inspiration
Truly Scrumptious Challenge #38: Sketch plus added challenge of Golden Oldie (use a stamp that’s been neglected) I rotated the sketch and cut out my ‘wavy’ DP, but the image covered most of my waves. Oops. I’ve been ‘collecting’ Dulemba images for over a year and seldom get to play with them.

Color Inspiration
365 Cards Day 162 ~ Color Scheme
I focused mostly on the orange and blue from the combo. The green is picked up on the HB embellishment and the flowered DP. I tried to give my mermaid auburn tresses which is how I read the first color. Black was used as the plain image and as the flourish inside the card.
