Buttons and Bows at One Stop Crafts

Happy Saturday, friends! I am in a totally SPRING mood. I was finally able to open up the windows and let the fresh in. The fur herd was QUITE excited and had to pile on top of each other to sniff the air and get one step closer to the birds. They love having the windows open and it doesn't seem to intimidate the birds, squirrels, and rabbits who peer in at them from the outside. This is an old pic, but the cats are still members of the 7 part fur herd and this is a common site year round at our house.

I made a very spring-ey card for this weeks challenge over at One Stop Crafts Card Challenge. The Design Team received super cute images from our sponsor, Patties Creations. Take a moment to pop over to the challenge blog to see their inspiration and then create and link up your own buttons and bows project.

I decided to punch out the center of my flower and fill it in with buttons. I lifted the panel with pop up dots and used a ribbon to cover the edges.

I used glue dots to give a little lift to a few petals and the butterfly.

All That Stickles Icicle Linky Party Starts NOW

Hello there!!! I hope the sun is shining in your world and you've officially bid farewell to winter. We had our first 70 degree yesterday, which was a nice treat compared to the rain and snow that started the week out. While we bask in the sun, you can still get chilly with the new linky party over at All That Stickles. For the next two weeks we want to see your craft projects using ICICLE Stickles. What I love about the 'clear' colors of Stickles is you can use them over colored cardstock, images, etc. and get a beautiful effect. Don't let the name ICICLE fool you; it's great for wintry creations but can be used for pretty much anything. Hop over to the ATS blog to see what the design team came up with. Make sure to come back and link up your ICICLE creations for the chance to win a prize from one of our FABULOUS sponsors.

Ruby Baptism Card

My husband and I have the honor of loving up a beautiful great niece. Baby Ruby joined our family in January and we recently celebrated her baptism. Like any good auntie, I wanted to make a special card for the occasion. I've toyed with the idea of using a mini cross stitch kit for a card and finally tried it. I love it! I used a piece of ribbon and two doilies to create a detachable piece. The heart can be used as a book mark or hung on display. Here's the proud parents holding Ruby. Love all these faces so much!

Oh Snap!

I fell in love with the freebie this month from Birdie Brown. The sentiments are perfect for the image and I really like how this turned out. I left the inside verse blank as I'm not sure how I'll use this card. It would be perfect for so many situations! I know it will be one of those cards I hand to the recipient as I don't think the triple layer of buttons will mail very easily!

CAS Cool Cat

Today I have a SUPER quick and easy card to share with you. Cool Cat is one of my favorite Stampin Up sets and I have to dig it out every now and then. As much as I love to color with my Copics, sometimes it's nice to step back and stick with the basics.

When I started stamping almost 20 years ago, things were VERY basic. Just an image and some cardstock. The ribbon and brad would have made this ‘fancy’.

All that Stickles Baby Blog Hop

Welcome to the Baby Blog Hop brought to you by the All that Stickles design team!

Bring on the bouncing babies! It's time for a Baby Blog Hop filled with all sorts of cute, fun, and of course, sparkly, baby themed projects!

If you've come from Cynthia's blog, you're in the right place! If you've just come across the hop and would like to start at the beginning, please visit All that Stickles.

For my project, I've made a centerpiece to use at a baby shower.
I took this (all bought on clearance or with a coupon)
and turned it into this:
Can you spy all my Stickles additions?
The prefabbed box had a few flaws. Look at that sloppy glue peeking out from under the letters.
An quick cover up is a sparkly layer of Ice Stickles to create a fab border.
And look at the inconsistent painting of the brown border, I'm glad I didn't pay full price for this! LOL
With Stickles in hand, anything is possible. I used Cinnamon to cover up the gaps and add a beautiful border.

Did you notice a few other additions to the box? Why those are Dew Drops which you can find at one of our fabulous April sponsors, The Robin's Nest. I used the GLUE feature of Stickles to adhere them and also Stickled over some of the existing polka dots. You can see a bit of glitter shine through the more transparent Dew Drops.
What to stick in my basket/box? Why, some Easter/Spring clearance items. These cute polka dot pinwheels were very interesting to my crafty helper, Dolly. She must have thought they were flowers.
I didn't like the plain wooden 'knob' in the center so I grabbed m Copics and colored then in to match and then added a layer of Stickles. A few dabs over some of the polka dots and just enough glitter to go from plain to POW.
Always keep an open mind when you are browsing the craft aisle. Eggs aren't just for Easter, they make great accents for baby themes also. I found this set of six eggs on deep discount after Easter at Hobby Lobby. They are covered in fabric and already on a stick, perfect for using in a centerpiece.

I used Stickles to glue on more Dew Drops to some and doodled lines and dots over some of the eggs.

To pull together the baby/egg theme, I used this adorable image and sentiment from Doodle Pantry to create a wrapper to the big bottle bank. I filled the bottle with baby themed rubber ducks that will act as favors to the guests.
Here's a close up of the image.
Nothing is free from Stickles as I added Baby Blue to the egg and bow.
Whew, that was a lot of pics! I hope you are able to be inspired to think outside the box when you are crafting and remember that Stickles makes everything better!

We have blog candy for those who are a follower of All that Stickles and leave a comment on every stop of the hop! Winners will be announced Wednesday April 24th at All that Stickles.

Set Sail

Hi there blog friends! The sun is SHINING in my world, which is a big change from earlier this week.
We don't typically have snow this late in the year in southern Minnesota and I've taken it as my personal duty to keep a POSITIVE attitude in between snowstorms. I keep up the chant 'no mosquitoes' whenever I start feeling down. :)

This week over at One Stop Crafts Card Challenge, we are urging you to think outside of the crafting box, well at least the standard square or rectangle, that is. The Cutting Cafe is sponsoring us in our Shaped Card challenge. I know I get lazy and stick with the quick right angled cards, but was thrilled to find out how easy it was to use the template Cutting Cafe gave us to create this cute sailboat card. I don't have a cutting machine, so I went old school with my scissors, and was very happy with the result. Please pop over and see what my teamies came up with and join us in the fun!

Showers of Love

I'm on a Spring kick today, this is my third spring inspired creation. I did stash an umbrella in my van this week, but it was pushed aside for the snowbrush. Maybe next week I'll get to open it up. This adorable image is from Nana Vic and you can get it FREE by playing along with the Progressive Challenge over at CDAC. I'm so proud of myself for making a card relatively early in the 3 month challenge. Now to get the next image and keep creating!
