Sunshiny Reading Angel

I admit to being out of my craft groove lately. I thought I was dealing with my mom’s illness fairly well, but when my hubby asked why I wasn’t crafting in the evening I realized I was a bit blue. Since crafting always lifts my spirits, I’m going to try and spend at least every other night making a card or at least working on my cross-stitch projects. Since I’m so far behind on my creations, I was able to find several challenges to blend into this sunshiny card. (Please see the Ins and Outs for links to the challenge websites and feel free to join in the fun).
Sketch Inspiration ~ Midnight Madness Sketch #12 Another great sketch from Priscilla
Color Inspiration I’m not a ‘yellow’ person. The only reason I can think of is that it’s not a color I can wear so I don’t seem to gravitate toward it in any aspect of my life. I really need to make an effort to use it more often as it’s such a happy color, my mood instantly lifts. One of my favorite flowers are sunflowers (you’d think I’d be more receptive to yellow) and they always make me think of summer sunshine as they follow her across the sky. I usually just hold my paper in one hand and the ink pad in the other and drag the edge across the pad. I used to use a sponge (gives a softer, more refined feel) but I’m just too lazy to dig through the drawer to find one. I like how the ‘drag’ technique gives a ‘rough’ contrast to the ‘pretty’ image. For this card I dragged the whole pad over the background paper and ‘tinged’ the petals and ribbon with a bit of ink. 3. Your card is gorgeous! Good for you taking some time to take care of yourself. A little distraction from reality is a good thing. I believe many of us do it for that one reason. Best to you and your mom. Waiting to see what you do next.

  4. Wow Ms. CatSpicer, you've got your system down for combining the challenges. I usually have to go search and see which challenges are asking for what and they try to piece it. I usually can only find 2-3 to throw on a sketch :) Lol I am gonna come here instead. This is such a bright and sunny card, I love it! It's just delightful and especially how you put coloring around the flower. Thanks for sharing your talent this week with us, see you at the next one, xox ~Jeni & MMSC DT
