Wicked Chick - Halloween at OSCC

It's Halloween week! Lots of spooky challenges out on the craft blogs, included One Stop Crafts. I'm late posting my DT creation. Had an unexpected road trip last week for a funeral so I didn't finish tweaking until today. I went with Halloween colors to create a WICKED theme. You can still get the 'feel' of a holiday with your color palette, even if you don't have a traditional image. This week Kenny K is sponsoring the challenge. If you haven't seen his images, you will WANT to get your hands on some. Check out the OSCC blog to see what my DT mates created. Hope to see you there!

Thanks for looking! Spicey Cat Chick =^..^=

They aren’t all popped up but they are layered up.
Something wicked this way comes, inspired by the classic Wizard of Oz. I used designer paper as my sentiment.

SU Spooky Treat

Is everyone ready for the ghouls tomorrow night? We seldom get trick-or-treaters but I bought some candy just in case. Unfortunatley Mr. Gears and I polished it off. I think there is 1 miniature Snickers left. I'd better stop at the store or else keep the lights out! LOL. Here's a cute treat idea that would be fun for classrooms or the special goblins in your life.

Sweet Witch

I picked up this cute little witch as a freebie in blog land a year or two ago. She was perfect for me to practice on traditional skin/hair colors. I also did 3 different color groupings for the pumpkins. It all came together nicely and I'm trying to perfect my Stickles technique. I'm learning that less is more. :o)

Bugaboo Halloween Cat

Another Halloween card to share. This is an image that was colored last year and waiting for a home. I added the glitter detail and went clean and simple for the style.

Sparkly Season’s Greetings

It's not too early to start thinking about Christmas. I think some stores had Christmas displays before the Halloween treats! We had our first experience with the white stuff this week, so I felt it was time to share a Christmas card. I didn't get to see the flakes as I was traveling and they had whisked away by the time I got home. This was original for the One Stop Crafts Challenge back in June, but due to some life difficulties I didn't get it finished and posted until now. :o)

Changito Fang-tastic

I found this image in my already colored bin and made a quick card. I love Changito; Stampendous has so many cute characters. They were one of the first companies I fell in love with when I started stamping. I have several Halloween cards to share, I hope you can check them out.

Precious Piglet

Wahoo, for another week at One Stop Craft Challenge. This week we are sponsored by the AMAZING Doodle Pantry. I just love their images and chose to play with Precious Piglet for my card. Our challenge at OSCC is 'Anything Goes' so we expect to see lots of you playing along. You don't have to use a Doodle Pantry image, but we'd love to see you support our sponsor if you can. Laurie has several freebies on her site, so check them out.

I always have fun with DP images and pulled inspiration from several other challenges to create my card. Now I just have to pick who will receive my sweet piglet.

I used Copics to color the image and added shine with metal accent clips, pearls, stickles (in his eyes) and liquid pearls to the flowers. Not overly bling-ey, but still plenty of sparkle in real life.
I used lots of pop up dots to make my piglet fly off the page. The green frame is actually popped up from the image and then the image is popped up from the base. The white 'waves' along the bottom are all popped up intermittently as well.

Simple Sympathy

Hello all, is it just me or is Blogger being a bugger? I had several posts saved as drafts but when I went in to edit them for posting none of the photos showed up and everything keeps moving when I'm working on it. FREAKY! I just started from scratch and we'll see how it goes. This is a quick and simple sympathy card I made. I try to keep several on hand and unfortunately, they always seem to get used too quickly.

Heat Embossing at the OSCC

Welcome to Saturday! We are back on track at One Stop Craft Challenge with some amazing new Design Team members. Thanks for waiting for us during the mini break while we regrouped. This week we are sponsored by the FABULOUS A Day for Daisies with a heat embossing challenge. I love ADFD images, they are so whimsical and fun to color. I was thrilled to play with Butterfly Fairy for my card. I hope you join us this week in the Embossing Challenge. I heat embossed my image on vellum and layered over a panel I'd used the shaving cream technique on. If you look closely you'll see my black and white background piece is double embossed. I inked my embossing folder with Versamark, ran my white cardstock through and then piled on black embossing powder. It gives a bit grungier look than the typical crisp lines from just one embossing technique.

I pulled inspiration from several other challenges too, please check out the links and join in their fun as well.

Thanks for looking! Spicey Cat Chick =^..^=

TIP: The easiest way to add impact to your cards, is pile on the layers and give them some ‘pop’. This is super easy to do, especially with winged images. Add a mini pop up or glue dot behind the wings and your card is ready to take flight.
I’m pretty good at Copic coloring and using layers for oomph.
I fussy cut 3 fairies to create my dimensional girl.
I think my card is indeed smothered with crafty goodness, maybe a bit TOO much.
365 Cards Day 166 ~ Squared I have layers and layers of squares
365 Cards Day 183 ~ Pick-a-Pattern (I used Polka Dots and Toile)
365 Cards Day 223 ~ Double the Fun (double up on at least 3 items)
1) Doubled up embossing with dry and wet; 2) Doubled up on stamping with a digi and rubber; 3) Doubled up on layers with each panel having 2 layers
