Birthday Easel Treasure Box

ETA: Nope, that's not a new SU die, just our good friend the Top Note. Run your CS through once and then turn the cut piece 90 degrees and run it through again centered across the middle of the die. I learned the trick from my SU demonstrator. Plus it makes 2 really cute 'brackets' in the leftovers to be used in another project.

I admit, I’ve drooled over the FAB easel card creations out there and have been too chicken to try it myself. I’m proud to say I finally made one!! Well, it’s actually a ‘treasure box’, but the same idea applies. It wasn’t as difficult as I thought, but I still need practice with the measuring. For now I have it sitting on my desk, and the chocolates are disappearing. I’m so proud of it; I’m not sure who I’ll give it too! The sweet ‘treasure’ will need to be refilled before I hand it off. Maybe I should just tuck in a few bills instead of chocolate.

I love that the Madness crew gives a simple and a more detailed sketch option each week. I've been missing out on their challenges for awhile and was excited to be able to use their sketch as inspiration for this project. I used elements from both versions for my final treasure box.

Inspiration
What's sweeter than chocolate, and I used a box template for the drawer portion.
Creating any 3D item is out of my norm, and I just realized that this is basically an easel card stuck on a drawer!
With all the beautiful spring flowers blooming, I was inspired by “June is Bustin’ Out All Over’ from the musical Carousel. In my mind I keep singing "Spring is Busint Out All Over", but technically it's June.
See, even the easel part is BUSTING out!

  6. Sensational job on this project. I love the hot pink and that cool image you used. Isn't it fun to have a favorite project sit on our desk for a few weeks so we can admire our own handiwork before gifting it. I confess to doing the same! You rocked this easel card challenge. So happy you could have some fun with Creative Inspirations this week!

  14. Your project is awesome. The colors are great and the chocolates match (or rather matched) it perfectly. I have to admit though that it does look so intimidating but you make it sound so simple. Thanks for the inspiration I think I will give it a go.
