Knitting Friends

My circle of friends and many in my community know I'm a crafter. It's been passed down from my mom and my grandmother. I'm pretty sure it extends beyond them, but those are the 2 I have personal memories with creating. I'm always thrilled to bring someone else into the club and thought it was the perfect reason to make a card!

Polar Bear Thanks

Here's another take on a card I did previously. I made this one into a thank you card and played with my Martha Stewart snowflake glitter. We had light dusting of snow this weekend and it's always so pretty. I even had the urge to scoop up a handful for a taste. Brought back lots of childhood memories and was quite refreshing!

Classic Trucks

Mr. Gears asked me to make a for a friend of his going through a tough time. I wanted to make something cheery, yet not at all girly. I kept it pretty simple for easy mailing and am happy with the end result.

Wild West Birthday

Nimble fingers clickety clacking so I can link up to the madness gals in time! Not sure how much I like the final product here, it's not my usual vibe and I was trying a new technique. I only had my Copic Refills handy to try the blow ink technique. Some of my attempts just became 'blobs' of ink. I learned I had to blow through the straw just as the drop fell to get a true spatter.

Inspiration
I think the inside of my card shows my straw/blow art technique better than the front.

Double Card Post

I must be the Princess of Procrastination. The 365 Cards Challenge Blog starts fresh each March 1st. For the past 2 years I've had the best intentions of completing all the challenges. Then Pam throws some wacky one out that stumps me and before I know it the year is ending and I have all the hard ones left. Actually, they all aren’t that difficult, I just had limited crafting time the past year. I’ve got 3 days to complete about 30 challenges…can I do it? It will be tough as I’m scheduled for 24 hours of work this weekend, but I’ll give it a shot. At least I know I’ll be starting fresh next week with the new challenges. I've got 2 cards to share in this post.

Enjoy Life

I have several cards to share over the next few days. I've been a bit of an insomniac trying to adjust to varying work schedules for Mr. Gears and myself. It's been great for getting my 'craft on', but I anticipate a day or two of complete CRASHING ahead.

Vintage Poinsettia Ornament

It's going to be a big push for me to get all my outstanding 365 challenges done and posted before the end of the challenge year. As luck would have it, I have a double shift tomorrow and work Saturday and Sunday. I think I'll be up late tonight crafting away!

Wild Birthday at the OSCC

Time for another One Stop Craft Challenge ~ WAHOO! Lisa’s celebrating her birthday this week and is challenging us to make birthday cards WITH cake on them. The DT had fun with images from the challenge sponsor, Sassy Studios Designs. I hope you can join in the fun!

Sketch Inspiration ~ Midnight Madness Sketch #91
WAHOOOO! I did the current challenge on time ~ are you proud of me MMSC DT? :o) I did a mash-up of the two sketches.

My Creation

Image Detail
Lots of sparkle and shine IRL. I used Stickles for glitterly sparkle and opted for Sepia Accents instead of Glossy Glaze for shine. The brownish-red color adds richness to my girls tresses and the cupcake frosting.
This close up shows the Stickles (applied first) in her hair. I added the Sepia Accents right over the top, no need to wait for the Stickles to dry first. Her arm and body are popped up a bit for dimension.

Tip: When working with digis, print 2 images the same size. I use one for 'practice' coloring and will often opt to cut the second image into sections and add layers to the main image or use them for continued decoration inside the card.

Bee Birthday

I had this cool image (a freebie from Sugar Creek Hollow) colored up and in my stash for awhile. I though it was the perfect focal point for a birthday card for my sweet sister-in-law. She's one of my biggest fans and claims to love everything I make. It means so much to know the recipient of a creation appreciates it. It also makes me a little bit stressed to not lose my mojo! I wouldn't want to dissapoint her. :o)

Party Time Dude

Today would have been my dad's 70th birthday. He journeyed to heaven suddenly in June 2005 and there's been a huge hole in my life ever since. As the only daughter, he and I had a very special relationship. The card I'm sharing doesn't 'look' like my dad, it just evokes a smile ~ which is something thoughts of dad bring to my face.

Quilted Thank You Hearts

I needed a thank you card for a dear friend who has really helped me out recently. I had some leftover hearts printed that never made it onto a Valentine's card and thought they'd work great for a Thank You message. I was able to combine a few of the 365 Cards challenges. My goal was to do them all this year and we are quickly approaching the end of their challenge year. YIKES, I still have quite a few to crank out.

Sketch Inspiration ~ 365 Cards Day 238 ~ Super Sketchy Sunday
I really liked the grid idea and went with 6 pieces to fill out the card (and work in a few more 365 challenges). J

365 Cards Day 188 ~ Divide and Conquer
Divide card into 6 equal parts and decorate it so that none of the sections overlaps
365 Cards Day 286 ~ Twinchie Fun Use six 2x2 elements; I almost used 12 as my square mats are 2x2 and the hearts are about the same dimension at their wide points.
Stamping Vacation Home Sweet Home Challenge: Farmhouse Country
I used the country quilt option with my images.
365 Cards Day 247 ~ Thinking in Thirds
Divide your card into three parts so that none of the embellishments or the sentiment overlaps; I'm did three horizontal elements that don't touch - two rows of hearts and one of sentiment.
