Asian Wedding Take 2

I found a snippet of time last night to play with my new stamps from Simon Says Stamp. This card uses the Simon Say Stamp EXCLUSIVE set Magnificent Asian Backgrounds. I love the organic elements in this set and thought they would make a nice wedding card, without having to ink up a bride and groom. Actually depending on the sentiment, you could use the images for any theme. Vary the colors and embellishments and you get a whole new feel. I’ll try to post a few variations over the next week or so to showcase the versatility of the set. At first I was perplexed since I didn’t have any Asian themed paper in my stash. Then I didn’t just have a light bulb moment, the whole fixture knocked me in the head. Why not make my own ‘paper’ using the elements from the stamp set? Duh! I know people do this all the time but sometimes I swear my brain cells have jumped ship. As usual I combined several challenges (4 to be exact) and managed to get glitter on my face, entire desk and a few kitty toes. My Card

I used Memento ink on PaperTrey Ink white cardstock to create the background. I just randomly filled in the page with flowers and fans. The cherry blossoms were fun to color (although I admit I’m not sure how ‘real’ they look) and make a nice focal point.

Image Detail

I tried my usual Spica treatment on the flowers, but it wasn’t ‘quite’ enough glitz for my taste. I added SU’s Dazzling Diamonds (hence the glitter everywhere in my house) and just Spica-d the stems.

I think this qualifies for the 2RedBananas ribbon challenge because I was certainly fit to be tied. I wanted to use a wide ribbon along the side but couldn’t find any that matched my color scheme. I finally found a roll of SU’s Sellabration green ribbon and a snippet of sheer pink. I thought it would be cool to stamp my ‘always’ sentiment on the green ribbon, but it didn’t quite work. I’m not sure if it was because of the texture on the ribbon, the ink, or because the sentiment was quite thin. I used Memento but the ink bled out and made the word quite fuzzy (and that was with my glasses on). Scratch that idea and just stamp the sentiment alone. My pink ribbon was about 4 hairs wider than the green ribbon, but could barely be seen when layered. Another light fixture moment and I cut the ribbon snippet down the middle and taped the pieces along the edges of the green ribbon. Voila – instant wide ribbon. I matted the sentiment with the green ribbon and added the notch cut for variety. A simple image and snippets of paper for the inside and I’m done! I did finally find some ‘sort of’ Asian paper in my green scraps folder. I’ll be sure to use it on the next card.
